Question
I have a stray female just over a year. Is there a way to determine whether she has been spayed?

Please send your response to my email address so that I'm sure to receive it. 14400@bigfoot.com

Answer
Hello Ellen,

I'm sorry I am not allowed to answer you by email, all questions must pass through AllExperts for safety.

Yes you may be able to tell if she is spayed, you need to bring her to a vet and they will shave the area where the spay incision is made and apply a special dye - the dye will reveal a scar that would be from the spay surgery.

The best bet is to just make an appointment at your vet for spaying, and mention that you don't know her history and she may already be spayed, so they will check first and then proceed with the operation if it has not already been done.

Good luck with your new kitty :)

Please do NOT ask me if you should take your cat to the vet - if you have any reason to suspect your cat is ill or injured please call your vet immediately!
