Question
Can cats break their tails? My cat has a lump on this near his rump. He could hardly sit and his tail is limp. He usually has it pointed sky high. Any thoughts on this?

Answer
First of all, my sincere apologies for the delay in answering. My internet service has been up and down, and actually lost my original answer to your inquiry.  Again, I am very sorry.  By now I am sure you have realized that, yes indeed, cats can certainly break their tails.  Caught in a slamming door or stepped on or any number of causes. He is probably very sensitive in that area.  I would definately recommend that you take your cat to a vet, if you haven't already.
Thank you for your intrest in this site, and again, my apologies for the time delay.
Thank you
