Question
hi,

i'm getting married in couple of months and i just found out that my fiancé is allergic to cats (she just had the tests done). I was wondering if there is anything that can be done to lessen the affects of her allergies - where its possible she could live with my cat and i don't have to give up my cat

thanks!

Answer
Hello Fergus,
Usually allergies to cats (and/or dogs) is reaction to the dander more than the fur.  And yes, the good news is that there are products that will help to cut down on these allergens.  Things such as 'Allerpet', a pump spray that is put on the coat.  Regular grooming will help as well.   Check with your groomer to see if they have Allerpet shampoos. You might also consider a premium food, such as Precise or Innova, foods that are directed toward skin and coat care. So there is hope!
Hope this has been helpful and thank you for your inquiry and your intrest in this site.
Thank you,
Tomay
