Question
This may sound a bit weird but here goes. My cat loves to sit on my lap and knead for quite awhile. After a few minutes he seems like he is in a trance...his nose begins to run and then he makes a strange type of meow before snapping out of the "trance". Have you any ideas about explaining this? Have you ever heard of this. I do know the kneading is common but the other stuff?

No, I have never heard of the "trance" you are describing. My cats will knead too, but not the other stuff. Kneading is a comfort to cats, kinda like a toddler with a pacifier, or a child with a favorite blanket. It mimics the kneading that kittens do while nursing. Cats do this as a sign of contentment, so your cat must really be happy!
