Cats/My cat has a fever

Question
I took my cat to the vet and she got a shot for a high fever and some anti-biotics.  I don't want to bring her back for testing if I would only know if she will get better.  My mom seems to think she'll come out of it.  She's only about 7-9mo. old.  Do you know if her fever will go down?  Or should I take her back?  I'm worried and confused.

Answer
Hello Salisha,
I am not a vet, so I cannot offer medical advice.  What I can offer is my opinion based on experience.  Her fever going down will only happen when the problem or infection has been corrected.  And that can only happen when the anibiotics that the vet gave her are completely gone.  Be sure and follow the directions given to you by the vet, to their completion.  If, after the complete series of medication is gone, the fever persists, then it would be time to take her in for another check up, and perhaps look further into what is causing the problem.  If she seems lethargic, or doesn't eat, drink or eliminate regularly, then it would be wise to visit the vet.
Hope this is helpful, and I wish you and your little one the best, and hope she is feeling better soon.
Thank you for your inquiry and your intrest in this site.
