Cats/cat food manifactures, how bad?

Question
Hi Caren, How are you?
I’ve seen a list of recalled cat food, (on http://cats.about.com/od/catfoodandnutrition/a/Recalledcatfd.htm)  and hundreds of comment’s from people whose cats had problems because of bad food?
I’m feeding my cat Freskies dry food which she loves,  (I tried Royal canin, Nutro, IAMS, Whiskas) but she refused all. She likes only Freskies dry food(by Purina) . With all the reported cases of new bad food manufactured by “Big” companies I’m just scared, and worried about my 1 year old Persian cat. What is safe for her???
Shall I give her our own cooked food, I tried to find ORGANIC cat food but it’s not available in our country (the UAE) . Please help me to select the best for my cat no matter how expensive it is.
Many Thanks.

Answer
Hi Faiza,

Dry foods aren't affected by this recall. Friskie's products are not part of the recall. To put your mind at ease I would check the label. Make sure it has no wheat gluten in it and make sure it's made in the US. If you wish to change her food I would go to a food like Wellness, Innova Evo, Eagle Pack or another high end  cat food. Most of these cat foods have no fillers in them and are very pure in their ingredients. If you switch her to one of these you must do it gradually. Put a little at a time mixed in with her Friskies. Over a 2 week period you increase the amount until she is switched from all Friskies to all of the other brand. You will also be feeding her less because these brands are more nutritionally complete. Good luck and let me know what you do.
