been doing it alot.. sometimes i wonder if she might be pregnant because they
are outside cats and arent fixed but im not really sure if there are male cats
around and most cats around here are indoor cats.. she has been sleeping so muc
lately i mean i know cats sleep alot and ecspecially in winter but it seems
kinda strange to be sleeping almost 24hrs.. so my question is why is she acting
this way?

Answer
Hi Amanda,

If your cat is not spayed and has been outdoors I guarantee you she is pregnant. It's extremely irresponsible of you to not spay your cat and then especially to allow her outdoors. You may not be aware of the fact that tens of thousands of healthy friendly cats and kittens are killed in shelters across the US every single day because there are not enough homes. Now you have allowed your cat to become pregnant.

There will always be male cats around if a female in heat is outside - they can smell her for miles!

Please do the responsible thing and take her to the vet right away. It may be too late to avoid her having kittens, so I hope you are ready for the responsibility of getting them all vet care, spayed and neutered and finding them homes.

Your cat may also be sick, so she needs to go to the vet for a blood panel to see if she is ill as well as pregnant.
