Cats/chronic meowing

Question
Hi Karen. Please help! My cat (6.5 months old)is a chronic meower.  Unless he is sleeping, he is always talking. It is definitely not a cry & nothing is wrong- I have consulted w/the vet about every possibility & because he is perfectly healthy their answer is that "some cats are just talkers" I have come to terms with that, but when I am home it drives me out of my mind! I have tried all kinds of things like squirting him w/a water bottle, shaking pennies, etc. But it just seems to get worse. I have done some research & feel the ultrasonic petsafe high pitched sound remotes would be a wonderful & safe option but I have a dog (2.5 yr old lab) that I don't want to get confused. Please help w/any advice! Thank you.

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,

I agree with the vet. Some cats are just talkers. You might want to consider getting another cat to keep him company. This might help you. Sometimes leaving a TV or radio on can also help. I don't know anything about the ultrasonic thing to help them stop the talking. They look more to be for keeping them from an area. And I wouldn't know how your dog would react. I can tell you that "talkers" quiet down as they get older. And I don't know if he is fixed or not but this might help also if he isn't. Good Luck.

Ciao, Karen
