Question
I have an 8 week old kitten. The kittens name is smokey. I got her and her sister when they were 6 weeks old, before they were weened. They are going great with the eating. Although smokey will not use the litter box. Her sister trinity uses it just great. I have tried putting smokey in the litter box and scratching with her paw. This does not work she runs out of it like her tail is on fire. Smokey finds everywhere else to go. Please help, I do not know what else to do.

Thank You

Answer
Hi Kimberly,

I would contain them in a small area until he is trained, like a bathroom.  I think once he starts to use it, he will continue.  In the meantime, use some carpet shampoo with some white vinegar to clean the areas where he has already gone.  If he can smell it,  he will go back.  After you clean the areas and they are dry, cover with aluminum foil. Cats hate it!  Do this until he is trained.
Good luck

Expertise

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
