Question
How often should the litter box for a single adult cat be cleaned?

Answer
Hello Paula,
Ideally, litter boxes should be scooped often.  For clumping litter, you can do once every couple days, with thorough cleaning once a month.  For clay litters, or any that aren't clumping, daily is best, with a thorough cleaning once a week. Some cats won't use a litter box that is not scooped often, or is not large enough, and will sometimes resort to using the floor!
Hope this has been helpful.
