Question
My female cat Kate wont stop meowing. i've had her for nearly eight months and she has never meowed like this. she is an indoor cat and out of no where she just started crying non stop. do you have any idea what might have caused this change or how i can help her?

Answer
HI Cami,

Is your cat spayed? If not she may be in heat and she's "calling" to find a mate, and obviously the solution is to get her spayed. Even if she is spayed, if she is still young (I don't know if you adopted her as a kitten), sometimes during the spay surgery a small piece of the ovarian tissue tears off and is left behind, and even a tiny piece is enough to generate the hormones that will bring her into heat. In that case sometimes a second surgery is needed to remove the leftover piece.

Other than this possibility, your cat could be in pain or discomfort for any number of reasons, I would need more information to help out - has she been acting abnormal in any other way - urinating and defecating regularly, eating properly, vomiting, limping, etc?
