Experience I have over 40 year's experience with cats. Father was a veterinarian and I assisted him in his work. I have 14 cats at present. Most are shelter or feral rescues. Two are purebred cats. I have done cat rescues and foster care.
Question I "inherited" Nunzie after my Aunt died. She is an all white, deaf, one green and one blue eyed female. The vet said she is approximately 20 years old. One month ago we had her teeth cleaned and 3 extractions. She did well, then about a week after surgery she developed ulcers on the roof of her mouth and would not eat. Vet had no idea what it was nor what to do and put her on antibiotics to prevent infection. Did not clear up. I thought maybe Candida - thrush from too many antibiotics and stopped them and started yogurt in her food. She did get better and things were once again fine. Two days ago she started up with the same thing. No acids or the like around for her to get into and she chews on no plants around. She is so old - she just eats and sleeps, no longer curious and does not go outside the house. My question is - could this be a vitamin deficiency or do you know of any other cause for mouth sores in cats? I have Googled everything I an think of and she has seen 3 vets with no help.

There are a lot of different things that can cause the ulcers. Cancer,or ulceromembranous stomatitis,(Trenchmouth)are two that can cause those. I can't help you with that but i can help you with a food that will help her. It's called kitty glop and it's great for older, convalescing cats. I believe it will help your Nunzie. Feed her this and see how she is. Good luck and let me know what happens.

INGREDIENTS:
1 can evaporated milk
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not flavored)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox gelatin
1 egg yolk (beaten, )
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1 jar Stage One baby food (chicken or turkey)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup Pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.
Add gelatin and water to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.
Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator or over a month frozen.
Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer, thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature (milk form) before feeding.
You can also add Vitamins, like Felivite, to it. This will add to the overall benefit and nutritious value of this mixture.
