Question
i noticed yesterday that my cat was sneezing and sniffling alot. today it seems like he is doing it more. should i take him to see a vet or should i wait and see if he gets better on his own? please answer as soon as possible, i am very worried about him because he has never gotten like this before. thanks

Answer
Hi Marilyn,
Has he been vaccinated ?   If not, then you probably will need to take him to the vet.  Cats are prone to upper respiratory problems.  Does he stay indoors or go in and out?  If he goes in and out, then he can catch many diseases and upper respiratory infections from other cats.
Does he have a nasal discharge?   Eye discharge ? If so, then have him checked out.  He will need veterinary attention.   Be sure to have him vaccinated if he is not already.  (if he is running a temp, it will have to wait though).   If he is eating and has no discharge of the eyes or nose, then I would watch him and see how he does.  If he continues sneezing though, take him in.  I hope this helps.
God Bless,
Becky

Expertise

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
