Cats/peeing problem

Question
I have a farm cat that we have had for 6 years.  We also have 4 other cats.  This particular cat has started peeing everywhere in the house.  She has no rhyme or reason to where she goes.  We have 4 litter boxes in the house.  I use the spray the vet recommended in case that was it.  She is now on amytriptaline and this has not helped either.  I have watched and none of the other cats bully her.  In fact, she is the more aggressive.  I think maybe this is neurological now.  The vet says she has no kidney problems as I just had blood work.  She is now chewing on her hip and feet and is removing the hair from her hip. I am lost as to what to do for her....please help.

Answer
Hi Collette,

Amytriptaline can sometimes have the opposite effect than what it is supposed to do. It cause a cat to become more aggressive.  What you are describing can be because of bladder or kidney stones. Did your vet check for this? When the urinating starts up all of a sudden there is an underlying cause for it. The urinating and licking at the abdomen region suggest that she may have those. Have him check her for that. Let me know what happens and we can move to the next step if that isn't it. Good luck.
