Question
I have a siamese kitten just acquired yesterday. She is approximately 12 weeks old, and a lilac point.

I have limited experience with Siamese (enough to know they require quite a bit of attention), but for the first 8 hours or so with her she wouldn't come near me. Today, I come home from work and feed her...now she won't calm down. She constantly meows and climbs over me...literally. Is there something else she might be needing that I'm unaware of? I believe she is too young to be going into heat, but I'm not sure. I appreciate any insight you can give me.

Thanks,

-Nick

Answer
Hi Nick,

Oh, how I love Siamese and the lilac points are so pretty!
It sounds to me that your kitten missed you and was a bit lonely all by herself while you were at work!!  Siamese are very affectionate and sometimes get very attached to one person.  I think she loves you!!  I doubt she is in heat, she is just so happy that you are home. Give her plenty of attention, and once she gets used to you being gone, and when she gets a little older too, she will settle down.

Here's another thought... have you considered getting another kitten?  Two are much more fun than one!!  This way she would have a companion, and not get so bored.  They will groom one another and cuddle together , not to mention getting into all kinds of trouble together !!  Haha... maybe you wouldn't like that part,  lol.   I am a firm believer that two cats are better than one... but that would be your decision.

Good luck and God bless,
Becky

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
