Question
Our kitten is litter pan trained and has been doing a great job since day one. recently, however, she has started peeing on beds, right in front of us.

Why is that happening and what can we do?

Answer
Hello Barb,
It is possible that there is a urinary tract problem with your kitten.  When urinating becomes painful, a cat will associate that with the litter box, and pee in other areas in an effort to find  relief.  If that is excluded by a vet visit, then this is a behavioural problem.  Some cats have been thought to do these things when they are angry or upset about something.  There is at least one cat behaviour expert on this site, and she may be better aquainted with this issue, and be more helpful to you.  Her name is Rosie.
Good luck with this baby and thank you for your inquiry and your intrest in this site.
Oh, and be sure and clean all the pee spots with a cleaner specifically for pet urine stains and odors or a cleaner containing enzymes, to be sure and thoroughly remove them.
Hope to have been helpful,
Tomay
