Cats/What is wrong with my cat?

Question
Hi Becky,

Lately my cat has been distant from the house. He wanders a lot more than usual, to the point where some nights he does not return.

That is not my top concern.

Recently my cat has lost all his energy. He is usually a very energetic and playful cat who meows often.

He does not meow now. He will not look up. He moves extremely slowly, and always wants to lay or sit down somewhere.

He is also becoming very boney, but his stomach is bulging out. That is what is worrying me the most.

He looks ill. His fur is very ratty and covered in random things from the woods from when he returns home. His eyes are half open if not closed.

He makes no real response to us, or anything.

I am very upset, I am hoping you could tell me Something about what may be wrong with my cat.

thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Answer
Hi Theresa,
Your cat is seriously ill. He could have been injured by another animal, or probably hit by a car.  You need to take him to a Vet right away.
I'm sorry, but I cannot help you. He is too badly injured for me to give you a simple solution over the internet. You cat is in immediate need of professional attention. Please do not hesitate to take him in.

God Bless,
Becky

Expertise

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
