Cayman Islands/Work permits in the Cayman Islands

Question
Hi Robert,
My husband is migrating to the Cayman islands and has named me as a dependent on his work permit. I too have accepted a job there and am due to start this October, however I was looking to go there in June. My question is whether I would need to leave the island once I'm there in order for my work permit to be processed.

Thanks

Sorry for the delay - I've been checking out this with one of my contacts on the island.  Their view is that it is all down to timing.  If your husband's permit is approved and fully paid for before you arrive, then you are able to legally reside while awaiting the permit.  It would probably be worth pointing this out to your employer/the authorities when your work permit application is submitted.

Regards
Robert
