Cayman Islands/Working in Grand Cayman

Question
My Fiancee currently works for a watersports company in Grand Cayman, he has been there for three years on a work permit.  He is a Jamaica National but I am a British National, we will be getting married very soon and I would like to know what are the possibilities that my son and I could join him in the Grand Cayman.

I have over ten years experience working in the accounting field, I am an ACCA part qualified accountant with experience in Financial and Fund accounting.  unfortunately I do not have a degree but i hope to complete my professional qualification.

Do you think I would be able to move to the Grand Cayman, send my son to private school and also able to get a job in the Finance field without a degree?

Would my son and I be able to obtain a dependent Visa, then maybe I could get a work permit for myself?

I think that you will probably have to speak to the Immigration Authorities, and your financee will have to speak to his employer.

As I understand it, you and your son will have to be added to his work permit as dependents.  He would have to prove that he could support you all on his salary, including your son's schooling.

The other alternative would be for you to look for a post in Cayman and get your own work permit for yourself and including your son.  As you are aware, Cayman is one of the leading financial centers, so there are always opportunities for qualified staff. However, before an expat can be appointed, the employer has to prove that there isn't a Caymanian who can fill the post.  Harder to prove for the lower posts - there are more expats in the senior posts.  Does your current employer have offices in Cayman? Could you get a secondment?
