Question
Hi
I am holder of a Bsc(Hons) Accounting with Finance degree conferred from the University of Mauritius and have completed my ACCA studies in August 07. I am a Mauritian citizen and have got around two years working experience. I am hence still an ACCA Affiliate. I am very keen about experiencing an exciting job exposure in Cayman Island. I am aware that Cayman is actually looking for fully qualified accountants. But I am only partly qualified given that I have not yet completed the 3-year working experience. Please advise me on whether there is any scope for me in having a suitable job placement in Cayman Islands.

Regards,

Rudy

Answer
Rudy,

Most firms in Cayman are seeking fully qualified accountants with experience in external reporting.

You may want to consider two options.  First you could make inquiries through a placement firm.  The staff within the placement firm may have better contacts within the industry to find a suitable position for you.

Alternatively, you may wish to delay you job seeking for a few months.  The process of application, interview, and job offer will take a few months.  If you time it correctly you may complete your experience requirements for ACCA prior to arrival in Cayman.
