Cayman Islands/drivers license

Question
I am from Canada in the cayman on holidays I have an expired Canadian drivers license and would like to know how I would go about getting a drivers license here, temporary or more permanent. I may have a job opportunity here and it requires a drivers license. what are my options. please and thank you.

Answer
To get a temporary license, you would have to show a valid current license.  As you don't have one, I think you would have to renew your Canadian license and then apply for a Caymanian license by going to the Central Police Station with your Canadian Driving License (plus some passport-sized photos). They should then be able to issue a Caymanian License. Fee last time I checked was CI$60.

If you do get a job and therefore a work permit, the other option would be to take a Cayman driving test and get a Caymanian license.

For more invormation see the Government website at http://www.dvdl.gov.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1668,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

Hope this helps!
