Question
I have a family consisting of six and have an interest in migrating to the Caymans. How and where would we start? Finding jobs work permits housing etc? Everything you can tell me would help

First of all, sorry for the delay in replying - I had to take leave at short notice.

Have you checked my FAQ (http://www.gotocayman.com)?

The process is that first of all you need to find a job.  However, before a job can be offered to an expat, the firm has to prove that there are no Caymanians that can fill the role.  After that they can look to recruit an expat.  When successful, the employer then has to apply for a work permit for you - you would have to declare your dependents.  I think that this may be an issue as you would have to prove you could support your whole family without them needing to work, including paying for any schooling (if appropriate).

The other big issue that you need to be aware of is that work permits can only be renewed to a maximum of seven years (except in special circumstances), so your stay in Cayman will only be temporary.

Hope this helps - if your have any follow up questions after you have checked out the FAQ let me know.

Good luck!

Robert
