Question
My son has just moved out to the Cayman Islands, until he gets a couple of paychecks under his belt he is fairly skint, he has cooking facilities, is the any cheap food out there, the food costs are killing him!!!
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks,
Rebecca.

Answer
Yes, living in Cayman is expensive!

I know that lots of bars have specials once a week that include bar snacks, etc, so it may be worth looking at the adverts in the local pepers. There is also a regular farmers market that may be worth checking out.  Also, there are usually a few fisherman selling their catches on the waterfront in George Town.

The supermarkets advertise their weekly 'specials' usually as supplements in the Thursday or Friday editions of the local papers.

Good luck!
Robert

PS Also worth checking out are the hot food counters at the supermarkets - cheaper than eating out.  Champion House on Eatern Avenue has a reputation for good value takeaways.
