Cayman Islands/working permit under business staffing plan

Question
Hi Mr. Robert! My temporary working was refused by the Cayman Immigration Board last February 17, 2010. My employer tried to re appeal the decision but after few days they sent me a form to fill out, a grant for a 1 year working permit under the company Business Staffing Plan. Now is my fifth week of waiting. How long does is usually takes to hear the result by the Business Staffing Plan Board? Do you think i can get a positive result with plan? Thank you so much, more power!

Answer
I asked one of my contacts who is an HR manager in Cayman.  Her response was:

Can't predict the time frame as there are over 400 plans now and only 4 staff manning their approvals and renewals, so its hard to say.  The temp could have been refused if the Board knows the intention is to apply for a full permit (1 year).  A temp generally has to be justified with a need for immediate help as a result of something that was not expected.

Hope this helps!
Robert
