Cayman Islands/Internship

Question
Hello Robert,

I was researching a bit about Cayman Islands, and I basically understood all the regulations regarding foreign job employments and so on. Yet I was wondering how the industries act towards short-term jobs/ internships in the domain of tourism and hospitality management. I read that the Cayman Island's job opportunities are very high in financing and tourism so how would it be? Is it possible to get a job for a 6 months period for example? And how does someone apply?

Hope you can help me cause I haven't found answers to these questions on the internet and I don't know anyone there.

Thanks and Cheers,

Lin

I've never seen internships advertised, and in any case I would have expected these to be offered to Caymanians, based on the principle that internships don't pay and that Cayman is a very expensive place to live.

Even for short-term jobs, the rules are generally the same.  The employer has to apply for a temporary work permit (maximum six months).  Your best bet would be in the hospitallity industry, especially if you have previous experience.  Note that peak tourism season is from end of November to April/May, and employers would usually be recruiting for this period during the late summer/early autumn.  Your best bet would be to write to the main hotels/restaurants directly to see if they have any openings.
