Cayman Islands/Elementary Teaching Positions on CI

Question
Robert,
Good day. I am an educator certified to teach students in Grades K-6 in the United States, with certification placed in the state of New York. Looking to relocate to warmer climates as a middle-aged individual, I wanted to inquire of the formalities and need of qualified educators on the island. My Bachelor's Degree is in Elementary Education with a concentration in English. My Master's Degree is currently being completed via Walden University's online program and I am pursuing a Reading Specialist Certification.  I will be marketable as a classroom and reading instructor choosing this way. If you could provide insight as to what avenues I would have to seek out with regard to teaching on the island, that would be greatly appreciated.

Before an expat can take a job in Cayman, the employer has to show that there are no Caymanians that can fill the position.  The usual way of achieving this is to advertise the position in the local press (Caymanian Compass or Cayman NetNews).  Fortunately the full Cayman NetNews is published online (for free) at http://www.caymannetnews.com  Most jobs appear in the Friday edition, but you should check other days as well.  Jobs to teach in the public (government) schools would be advertised on the Department of Education website at http://www.education.gov.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1408,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTA...
However, there is currently a moratorium in government recruitment on anything but essential jobs.

Check out the general information on the education system in Cayman at http://www.caymannewresident.com/page_id_13.html

Hope this helps and good luck!
Robert
