Cayman Islands/RN positions

Question
Hi there,

I'm very very interested in moving to The Cayman Islands and utilizing my RN, MSN with an emphasis in public health.  Working for a public health department, non-profit, or governmental hospital would be ideal. The prevention and education of diabetes, obesity, and tobacco are my passions, but I'm willing to begin just about anywhere. Do you know of any possibilities or could you point me in the right direction???  Would my RN license (USA) be legal there? I'm still in the initial phase of my job search, and it would be extremely helpful to have the advice of a Cayman expert!!

Thanks,

Stef USA

I think that your qualification would be accepted, especially as medical emergencies tend to get evacuated to hospitals in Miami.

The bad news is that Cayman is really suffering from the recession, so any jobs are few.  Also, there is a moratorium on recruitment for government except for critical jobs.  The best place to look for this is on the Cayman Islands Government recruitment site at http://www.recruitment.gov.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1142,1941597&_dad=portal&_sche...

However, there is a move to place Cayman in the medical tourism market - see http://www.gov.ky/pls/portal/url/page/cighome/pressroom/archive/201004/healthsig... and look at the various Cayman News sites:
http://www.caymannewsservice.com
http://www.compasscayman.com
http://www.caymannetnews.com

Also, there are (public) hospitals on Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman and a private hospital (http://www.chrissietomlinson.com/).

Also, see my page at http://www.gotocayman.com/index.php?title=DirectoryH#Health_.26_beauty to some health organisations in Cayman.

Hope this helps you!

Regards
Robert
