Cayman Islands/Employment
Expert: Robert Clark - 1/16/2011
QuestionHi Robert,
I'm a University student from Toronto, Canada looking to relocate to the Cayman Islands upon graduation in June. I will be graduating with a bachelor degree in Marketing and i already hold an advance diploma in Marketing. I was wondering what the job market is like for marketers in the Cayman Islands. Are there opportunities in the marketing field in the Cayman Islands? Do you have any suggestions on how i can go about looking for potential opportunities? Also, when do you recommend will be the best time to apply for positions if i am looking to relocate after my graduation ceremony in June?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
AnswerShawn
I have to say that I think your chances are not good. Cayman is suffering from the recession (for example, see

Secondly, before a job can be given to an expat, the employer has to prove that there are no Caymanian's that can fill the post (usually by advertising in the local press#. As you would have no existing experience to bring to the table, if a junior post was advertised, a Caymanian will always have priority over an expat.
If you do want to pursue this however, then it may be worth contacting some companies directly. See either the list of marketing/PR firms on mw website #http://www.gotocayman.com), or the Cayman Islands Yellow Pages at

Also, I would suggest that you check out my FAQ that includes links to a couple of sites that post adverts for all vacancies in Cayman.
