QuestionHello my name is Louse I am moving to the Cayman Islands from Canada and i have 4 kids ages 14, 11, 8, and 4 I was looking for schools i came across 7 good ones ; St Ignatius, Cayman Prep and High School, Triple C, Cayman Adcademy, Cayman International School, First Bapist and Grace Christian Academy. We are not a religous family. We only go to church on christmas day i don"t know which schools are religous and which are not but we are not looking for a religous school. My 14 year old is a gymnast and has been one for a long time We were wondering If there was a gymnastics team she could join we dont think it would be fair if there wasnt one, Our 12 daughter is a swimmer and she needs to continue her swimming because she is breaking very high records. Is this any swimming on the island? We also need something to keep the kids Entertained with. Is there any Theatre's?!? or Hangouts?!?! Also are the children on the island friendly? Thanks. Lou
AnswerHi Louise,
Sorry for the delayed response to your question.
Re: "i don"t know which schools are religous and which are not but we are not looking for a religous school" I can tell you up front that St. Ignatius, Cayman Prep, First Baptist and Grace Christian have religion both as subjects and as a part of their philosophy (I'm pretty sure each school will be happy to share their perspectives on religion in their schools-If you ask) - I myself am not very religious but I think Cayman Prep & Grace and good schools.
Re: "We were wondering If there was a gymnastics team she could join we dont think it would be fair if there wasnt one" I don't know about the gymnastics team, but I hear that Cayman International School has a lot of a lot opportunities for the kids- so if there is one.. this would more than likely be the school that has one.
Re: "Is this any swimming on the island?" Yes there is. Check out

Activities, as it's a small island with a lot of cultural diversity, you'll meet a lot of families from all over (my girlfriends' kids are always busy doing something!) There is a small theatre for plays called the Prospect Play House, we have a 6 screen movie theatre called Go Hollywood, tons of camps, after school activities (my 10 yr. old Godson does drum lessons, sailing and karate) Camana Bay (also where parents and kids go to hangout) has tons of events, restaurants etc.. there's the Cayman Islands Cultural Foundation, the Cayman Islands National Trust, Humane Society, Junior Achievement, great beaches and always something outside.
Like anywhere, kids are kids. There'll be some good ones and others than need more family support. I happen to like all my friends' kids as they are well mannered, sweet, funny and active (ranging from 5-18)Moving is always an adjustment, but I think kids always make 1 or 2 good friends where ever they go.
Hope that helps!
