Cayman Islands/Adding a Dependent to a Work Permit

Question
Hi Robert,

What  documentation do I need to submit if I intend to add a dependent to my work permit?  What documentation does the dependent need to submit?  I recently got married and I will be adding my husband as a dependent.  I know that you need to be off the island while changes are being made to your permit.  Do you have any idea about the approximate length of time it would take to have the amendments made?  Are there any reasons that you can think of that will prevent me from adding him as a dependent?  I have no other dependents.

I think that this is all answered by the Immigration Department web page at http://www.immigration.gov.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1608,2524805&_dad=portal&_sche...

I don't think that it is documented anywhere, but the work permit board is only likely to consider adding a dependent if you can prove that you can support them - they take this to mean that you will be on a salary of at least CI$3,000 per month.

I believe that the process usually takes a couple of weeks, but this may depend on what backlog they are having to deal with.

Good luck!
Robert
