Cayman Islands/Civil Engineer Salary

Question
Hi Robert,

I live in Canada and recently received a job offer to work in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Would you know how much money a regular Civil Engineer would make in there? I've read your FAQ and worked it out that living cost for a sigle person is about 2000 $CI/month. Would you say that just enough for a basic decent lifestyle ? Is there any other hidden costs you think that a foreign worker like me should expect when live in there?

Thanks.

VT.

I think you will be able to survive on about that, but your lifestyle may be pretty basic.  It really depends on where you will be staying, which will determine your rent and also your utility bills.  If you are single, then an apartment/codo share may be worth considering.

The other big expense is likely to be transport - car and insurance.

It is also probably worth your while to check out some of the information on the jobinthesun.com website in the information on relocation, etc.

Good luck with your move!

Robert
