Question
My fiance and I will be married before he arrives in the Cayman Islands.  He has a 1 year work permit.  I have been offered a temping postion, hence have a temporary visa. Can my son be included as a dependant on my fiance's work permit, if my son is my fiance's step-child and not legally adopted by my fiance?

Sorry for the delay, but I've been checking with one of my contacts on the island.

No - he can't put the step child on the permit unless he legally adopts him.   Immigration won't allow it.   Secondly whenever that goes through (it would take significant time)  it depends on what kind of job he has and if the position allows dependants (ie position and salary)

Secondly, I would suggest that she not be added to her husbands work permit when she arrives as her working in Cayman will be dependant on the husband and right now she would need a permit (managerial/Good salary at least CI$45,000) to add her son to the work permit.  Also depends if the child needs to go to pre-school or Private school and this is not cheap $600 per month and $400 for preschool

Sorry about the bad news, but better you should no upfront the likely response from immigration.
