Cayman Islands/Questions about Grand Cayman

Question
We will be traveling to Grand Cayman and staying in a time share.
My questions are

Should we rent a car to best utilize the island?
I understand they drive on the left side of the road.  Is that correct?  Do you know who the best car rental company is to rent from on the island?

How expensive is it to eat out in resturants or to purchase groceries?

What are the best things to go see other than the beaches while we are there?

Thanks for your help.

Cayman, as a British Dependent Territory, drives on the left hand side of the road. Yes, you should certainly rent a car for at least a couple of days so that you can explore some of the island away from Seven Mile Beach.  There is information on hiring a car in my FAQ at http://www.gotocayman.com

My FAQ also has details of the main tourist attractions (under Cayman for Cruise Ship Passengers)

Eating out can be expensive.  However, many restaurants are cheaprer at lunch time, or have a buffet-style lunch. Try to get a copy of the Friday edition of the Caymanian Compass to see what is on and any special promotions.

My Trip Reports page will link you to reviews of restaurants, bars and trips, often with the price paid.

My FAQ will give you an idea of grocery costs. These prices are in CI$ (CI$1 = US$1.25), so you will probably find prices at least 20% more expensive than in the US.

Hope this answers you queries - enjoy your trip!
