Cayman Islands/Weather in the Cayman Islands

Question
My wife and I are planning a trip to the Cayman Islands for our 10th wedding anniversity. We want to go to the Island between the months of May and June.  Is the rainy season really as bad as I have read on the Cayman Island website; at this time of year?  Will it rain all day? What kind of weather can we expect.  Would the month of July be much better? Also, we were hoping to stay at the Hyatt, is it as beutiful as it sounds.  I read a lot of negative comments made about this hotel on different travel agency websites.     Thanks in advance.

My FAQ at http://www.gotocayman.com has some weather statistics for the year that may help you.

I really don't thinkt that it will make much differnece, but the later you leave it the more likely you may suffer from the hurricane season weather patterns. The hurricanes that tend to come towards the end of the season are those that have caused most damage to Cayman in the past.  Generally I would say that it doesn't rain all day, and that there is likely to be heavy rain for an hour or two in the morning and then stay clear the rest of the day. However, if a tropical depression setles in, then yes, it can rain for days at a time causing widespread flooding. If I was given the option I would try to go earlier rather than later.

The Hyatt is a very nice hotel, and on a good part of Seven Mile Beach. However, teh main part of the hotel is across the main road from and about 200-300 yards from the beach.  I would say that by far the nicest hotel is the Westin, and it is located directly on Seven Mile Beach.

Check my website also for some trip reports that may help you plan your trip.

I hope you enjoy your trip - perhaps you would like to contribute a trip report for the website afterwards?

Regards

Robert
