Cayman Islands/Work Permits

Question
Hello,  I am a caymanian who is going to boarding school in Germany.  My boyfriend and I would like to come to Cayman for two months this summer and he would like to do some work experience at a real estate office or such.  We were wondering what the regulations for his working in Cayman are if he was just doing work experience for a month or so without being paid at all does he need a work permit or are there any other formal requirements?

Sorry for the delay, but I've been trying to check the legal position on this.

It appears that regardless of whether your boyfriend is payed or not, he can only work if his employer has applied for a work permit. In this instance, he could probably work under a temporary work permit. Unfortunately they aren't free, so he'd either have to recompense his employer or hope that the work he does covers the cost of the permit.

Hope this helps!
