Cayman Islands/Going to the beach

Question
(Checked FAQ - Thanks for "Bugs," including left handed tip for tourists).

My wife and I will be staying at the (former) Sleep Inn at the south end of 7 mile beach.  Since it is a "short walk" to the beach, I'm wondering about things like chairs, umbrellas, blankets, towels, snorkel gear, etc.  We're flying in so hardly can bring our own furniture- do the "budget travelers" just do the pack mule thing from hotel to beach?  Are umbrellas, chairs, etc, available for temporaruy use?  Do the beachside resorts chase people who aren't from their hotel? Not that I'd want to schmooze seats or cabanas, but we don't wnat to wander into a private property inadvertantly.

Thanks for your help.  This is a first time for both of us, and we're real rubes!

Best Regards,

Tom C.

Thanks or taking the time to check the FAQ!

All of the beach below the high tide level is public beach, so is available to everyone.  The old Sleep Inn is away from the beach, and I don't think it has any agreement with any of the beach properties for guest to make use of their facilities (it may be worth checking wth them though sleepinn@candw.ky). So, you would have to take your towels.  Don't suggest hiking there with anything else though!

Some properties get extremely upset and non-guest using their facilities. Certainly the Hyatt patrol their beach area challenging visitors!

Hope this helps!
