Question
My husband has the opportunity of a job in Caymans with a salary of 39kci dollars. We are considering if we could live confortably on this amount, bearing in mind we would need to rent. I could also find employment when we got there if needed. I also have a phobia of spiders so would this be a problem? Do you think this would be a wise move. We have no dependents. Look forward to your reply many thanks

Sue
That salary would be considered to be the middle of the "middle income" range in a recent salary survey (see http://www.gotocayman.com/newslet.htm about two-thirds of the way down).
You would have to be listed as a dependent on his work permit,  and he would have to prove that he could support you without you needing to work. If you did manage to find employment, then you would need an employer to apply for a work permit for you independently of your husband.
Your quality of living will depend probably on where you find accommodation and also how much you choose to eat out - there are plenty of restaurants, but Cayman is very expensive - see my FAQ at http://www.gotocayman.com for a guide to living costs.

Don't remember from my trips any problems with spiders - it's the size of the roaches that get me!

Good luck!
