Cayman Islands/passports

Question
Good morning,

We are traveling from the US to Grand Cayman.  I have a 7 year old son.  Does he need a passport or is his birth certificate and return ticket sufficient?  Also, am I correct with the documents required for my husband and I being birth certificates, drivers license and return tickets?

Thank you

Christie

According to the information in my FAQ at http://www.gotocayman.com and the Cayman Islands Tourist Board website at http://www.caymanislands.ky/tour_guide/entry_requirements.asp if you are a citzen of the US you do not need a passport, but must present (in the absence of a passport) a birth certificate with a raised seal or a photocopy of Birth Certificate that has been notarized by a Notary Republic, as well as photo ID (a driving license is acceptable). I would therefore suggest that you take any official photo that your son has (school card, etc), as the rules do not specify any variation for children.

If in doubt, it may be worth contacting the Cayman Islands Department of Immigration: (345) 949-8344 - unfortunately they don't publish an e-mail address for enquiries.
