Question Do you know good spots to fish from the shore on Grand Cayman? My husband wants to catch permit or bone fish but does not want to rent a boat.
Thanks
Answer Kathleen
There are usually one or two local fisherman around the harbour. One of the posts on my message board in answer to a similar question said:
I visited Grand Cayman between 8/3 and 8/10 and found only one place to fish from the beach. On the east end just below the blow holes there is a point of land (coral) where the coast kind of sticks out. The bottom is pretty rough and you will lose many rigs. I threw some lures for a while without any success. I would look into finding a small boat to rent and get out beyond the reefs. You will be able to drift fish and you will find plenty of action. You could also troll and hook up to barracuda, small tuna and dolphin. I chartered out of Morritt's with Dwight Boden and had a great time. I don't know if there is anything better on the west end or south. Maybe someone else found something better. Hope this helps. Good luck!
As I have relatives on the island that I visit
regularly, I have good knowledge of the island from
both a tourist and a residents point of view.
