My husband would like to make a trip to the area, but due to heavy family financial stress (many thousands of dollars spent to cover loans cosigned for a family member), we are literally eating beans and peanut butter sandwiches.  He has a family member in the Caymans who left the US to protect an insurance settlement from a bogus claim.  Said family member should be well able to afford to accomodate him, but he is exceedingly hostile toward him, and I suspect he would not be welcoming.  Are there dormitories that are not in use part of the year that are rented to tourists on an affordable basis.

St Matthew's is the medical school on the island and has converted some former hotel and condo units for use as dormitories.  I am not aware of those being rented out during any school breaks.

As far as I am aware the other institutions of higher learning do not have housing.
