AboutBarbon Expertise I have been on NCL, Princess, HAL and Celebrity Cruises, but Celebrity is our
favorite line. I have traveled Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, Alaska, Canada/New England and am
familiar with the beaches and places to go at these destinations. We love to
cruise and I can tell you the "in`s and out`s of cruising."
Question My husband and I are planning an Alaskan cruise in May of '09 on the Celebrity Millenium. We plan on booking a concierge cabin/veranda on the Sky Deck-mid-ship. I have read about possible obstruction due to the overhanging. Does this apply to every concierge/veranda cabin on the Sky Deck?
Answer Hi,
I really would not consider the overhang an obstruction. I found when we did Alaska, both times, you cannot see everything from your balcony anyway. For example, when we were in Glacier Bay, we spent time on deck to get more of a 360 degree view, you can only see one side from the balcony anyway. We really used the balcony just to see whatever scenery (including whales) that we could see when we were in our cabin. Make sure you book excursions, the best way to see Alaska is by getting away from the small towns you are docked in and doing actitivites that are conducive to Alaska. The first time we did Alaska was in May (the week of Memorial Day). What we liked about May (and saw a difference in this past Sept.) was that it was much more snow covered and scenic in May.
Consider doing the helicopter landing on the glacier. It was spectacular to say the least. We felt like we were walking on the moon.
