Celebrity/Celebrity Cruise to Alaska 8/08
Expert: Barbon - 10/10/2007
QuestionQUESTION: Hi
We chatted before and I told you about ou family group (some 24 persons) that is planning a cruise to Alaska on the Infinity next Aug '08. You were going there and suggested I contact you again after your trip for any additional info you might want to give me. We are taking a 7 day round trip from Seattle up the inside passage and back.
I had another question - Celebrity is giving us a one person credit because we are booking 8 or more cabins, My travel agent tells me this "credit" is reduced by his commission. Do you know if this is correct? If you don't know- can you find out for me?
Thanks for your input.

ANSWER: Hi Beryl,
First, Alaska was wonderful again. I can recommend some excursions for the younger members of your family. The helicopter landing on the Glacier with the walk about was the best!! It was like landing on the moon. Not to be missed. The float plane was majestic along with the bear watch which the kids will love. We also did ATV's which again would be great for the families.
As for the commisions, I have no idea if you travel agent is being correct with you. I would assume, however, that if you are getting a one person credit then you should get the credit in full. You can also price this direct from Celebrity and see what they can do for you.

Thanks for your prompt reply. You mention an ATV in your reply. What was this?
Thanks
Beryl
ANSWER: Beryl,
I was thinking about your trip today and how you are uncertain of the pricing commissions of your travel agent. If you have not booked, why not shop around at one or two more legitimate cruise travel agencies and see what type of comparison and offers that they give you.

QUESTION: Barbara
Thanks for your advise- but I have already booked with my travel agent. I was concerned with just this one point- I will check around.
Again you mentioned in your first reply some excursions that my younger grounp might be interested in- what were these? Also again what was the ATV you mentioned?
AnswerBeryl,
I did answer you back in regard to ATV's. The are All Terrain Vehicles (like jeeps) which you drive in a group through the forest and out near the ocean. The older teens and adults will enjoy this. Also last time we went to Alaska we did "The backcountry Jeep Safari Tour", at least that is close to what is was called where you ride jeeps, do a short canoe trip and a very short hike. Again, your family may want to consider one of the two above. However, like I said, the helicopter to the glacier with the glacier walk a about was the most spectacular thing we have done. It is not to be missed.
