Celibacy/Abstinence/Diet queries



1) is drinking 1 glass milk with rotis at breakfast ok?

2) for dinner does 1 piece of apple would mean 1/4th of an medium size apple & does same applies to beat & capcicum?

3)Is dinner at 7 to 7:30 pm correct or it should be more early?

4) when practising asan while lying flat on back, does the head be towards North/east or the leg?

Please forgive me for such silly Questions

1. Yes. However, do not omit drinking milk earlier in the morning.

2. More or less.

3. As early as possible in the evening.

4. Face the North or East while in the sitting posture and accordingly lie down with the Legs facing the same.

The quantity of food to be eaten differs from person to person & is to be decided based on one's individual constitution. In general, one can can eat the quantity not causing heaviness.

The term 'Yoga' is a derivative of the Samskruth verb 'Yuj' which refers to union. 'Yoga', also called 'Brahma vidy‚' is the eternal dissolution of the individual 'Aham' (Ego) into the Atman (self) for 'Mukti' (liberation). Mere indulgence in '¬sana' or physical postures is not Yoga. ¬sana is only one limb or 'Anga' of Yoga. The eight limbs viz. Yama, Niyama, ¬sana, Pr‚n‚y‚ma, Praty‚h‚ra, Dh‚rana, Dhy‚na and Sam‚dhi are the means to Yoga. Brahmacharya or spiritually based continence is one of the important components of 'Yama'. 'Brahmacharya':- "Brahmani charyathey ithi" - "To surrender one's Ego and go with the will of the Almighty."
