Question
QUESTION: Hi there, I purchased a Samsung A516 with Rogers not too long along and have been having some problems setting my own music as ringtones. I have the song on my phone under the downloaded ringtone folder but when I try to set it as a ringtone is says “Non-DRM file cannot set as ringtone”? I have tired plenty of different things but nothing seems to work. Could you please help me fix this problem?  Thanks a bunch.

ANSWER: Hello Sachz,

At times when you attempt to set a mp3 as a ringtone on some service providers it will not let you set it as a ringtone the reason is because you need a file that has drm attachment inserted in the file meaning they want you to purchase the ringtone directly from them. I have known of a way around this and that is to make your ringtones wma instead of mp3 files. Give this a try and see if you can set your wma file as a ringtone. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.

QUESTION: Hi there, I tired useing a wma file but it said " File type not valid. I am useing the software called Samsung PC Studio 3 ( the software that came with the phone.) The files that I got under ringtones but do not work are "MPEG Layer 3 Audio" files. Do you have any other ideas of how I can get around this? Thanks a bunch

Sachz.

ANSWER: Hello Sachz,

Samsung PC Studio should actually have a file editor where you should be able to edit mp3 files and create ringtones for your phone have you used that feature? The ringtones that you created were they encoded at 64kb and lower because if they are higher than that on some phones they will not work. Please let me know if you have any success. Thank you for your question.
