Cellular Phones/SLVR L7 Only charging via USB

QuestionQUESTION: At first my slvr l7 would not charge with the wall charger but would with the car and usb. Now it will only charge via usb. I have verified that both the car and wall chargers are functioning properly and the battery in the phone does hold a charge... any ideas?

There are actually a few reasons as to why it does not function. My first is they actually make several different usb charging ports for phones including the motorola, blackberry device, and htc devices but not all chargers work. Is the charger that you have a generic charger? is it maybe designed for a different model phone? How did you verify that the phone was holding a charge for the battery? How did you verify that the charger was working? Is the charging port perhaps loose? My suggestion would be this at times it is going to be the charger itself being as they are probably a generic version if you were to swap them out for a oem product I can almost guarantee you that it will work. The reason why the data cable is working is because it is a oem product that came with your phone. What I would recommend is that you take your phone to a local at&t store or who ever your provider is and have them test out a new oem charger and see if that works I can almost guarantee you it will work. At times just because the red led light turns on the front of the charger it does not mean that it is actually working. Also are your cable tangled for the chargers that also cuts down current to your phone. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. QUESTION: Both the car and wall chargers are OEM and worked with my phone up until recently. I know that the chargers are not the problem because my wife also has a SLVR and both charges work for hers. I would assume the port is to blame as you have BUT that can't be the case since the USB charging works flawlessly the first time every time without and jiggling or fidgeting... the issue must be software related.

The software shouldnt be the issue for the phone because it would charge wether the phone is on or off. What I am going to say is that perhaps it is one of three things. My first assumption is water damage or damage to the motherboard on your phone in back of the battery there is a circular sticker the size of a pencil eraser if it is pink red or a redish color the phone has humidity condensation or water damage. My second assumption is the charging port maybe a pin got knocked out or is missing in that case it would only work with the data cable but the fact that you say you dont have to jiggle the port is really funny to me. My third guess without looking at the phone is the battery itself. Remove your wifes battery and place it into your phone and attempt charging your phone and see if it charges on all three chargers and if it does it is going to be the battery. After you test the phone with your wifes battery come back and tell me the results if the results are the same then I would recommend you call your carriers warranty service to see if it is still under warranty or I would call Motorola Monday through Friday from 9 am - 6 pm CST at 1-800-353-2729 I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
