Cellular Phones/water damage

Question
I dropped my razr phone into water and, knowing better, only let it dry for about an hour before trying to turn it on.  It powered on, but then flashed a lot of different things and I shut it off.  Now it seems to be completely dead.  Is there any way it can be repaired?  It's only a month old and I'm so frustrated about it!  Thanks, Julie

Answer
Hello Julie,

It really would depend on the amount of damage that was done to your device. If the motherboard on the phone was damaged that can be replaced if the lcd screen was damaged that can be replaced but according to what you have just told me tha the phone is completely dead now the first thing I would suggest is try out a different battery hopefully all the parts of the phone are still able to be saved and you only have to replace the battery. However if upon replacing the battery you attempt to charge the phone and your phone does not charge or it gives you wacky messages it is going to be your motherboard on the phone and that needs complete replacing. To be honest with you after a phone gets water damage you really should just replace the phone, that is why alot of people get the insurance on there plans it is rather in expensive if you think about it. I really wouldnt be able to tell you the amount of damage to the phone without looking at it and testing it. If you want to see if it can be repaired I would suggest for you to take the phone to a cellphone repair center. I hope I have been of some help if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.
