Is a sim card different from a memory card?

Yes a sim card and a memory card are different a sim card holds your phone number contents meaning it serves as the I.D. card for you to be able to use your phone number and your information on your phone. It can hold memoy but you are limited to 64kb meaning about 250 contacts and on some phones 10 text messages. A memory cards can come in many size formats 256mb 512mb 1gb 2gb and so forth you can store music pictures videos and other information on your memory card a sim card can not it is only able to store contacts and on some phones text messages.
