Expert: Roberto Serrano - 5/8/2008
QuestionQUESTION: Hi Roberto,
I would Like to know what kind software cellphones use. Because I have an Idea I think Cell phones companies would like to buy. I need to develop this software first, but I need to know what kind of programs they use.
ANSWER: Hello Carlos,
Your question doesnt really make sense to me as far as software phones have different type of software such as Ptt software, GPS software, E-mail software I believe the question you were asking is what type of Operating Systems they have. Well windows mobile devices operate off of Windows Mobile 5 & 6. The new Nokia phones operate off of a linux based system. Alot of other phones such as Palm operate on Palm based operating system Blackberry devices operate off of a Blackberry operating system. What you can do is go to www.phonescoop.com research the phones and what there capabilities are and there operating systems and firmware to make sure they will be compatible with what you have in mind. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.

QUESTION: is it possible to develop a program for all of these operating systems that's compatible? hope that makes sense.
AnswerHello Carlos,
Definately it is possible to develop a software that is universal with all phones you just have to study the specs of each phone and make sure the software you are going to develop will tolerate each phone. For instance some phones are 3g which really is internet speed if you want high speed internet on the phone make sure the software is for a phone that has that potential not for a phone that has dial up potential. However it is possible to create a universal software you might have to make several versions of the software one for PDA Windows devices and one for regular phones. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.
