Cellular Phones/Saving and Watching Video Clips from a Cell Phone
Expert: Roberto Serrano - 5/2/2008
QuestionQUESTION: Hi Roberto,
I want to convert my video clips from my cell phone to something like Media Player. I have a Nokia 6555, with a 1 Gig. SD card. The still photos are fine, but the video clips come out of my card reader as a 3GP file. How can I convert them to something compatible with Media Player?
Can you recommend a good free program On-Line?
Thank you and Regards, Ken.
ANSWER: Hello Ken,
Actually you should be able to view those files on your media player you probably have your 3gp files defaulted by an apple product like quicktime so it opens in quicktime you need to reset the default media player as the extention file for the 3gp format file. If not if you actually want to convert it with a converter to something different you can actually google xilisoft 3gp file converter and that will do the trick for you. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.

QUESTION: Thank you Roberto, I appreciate your prompt response and kind effort to help me.
I checked my Media Player list of file types, and 3GP is not even listed there at all. All that are available are checked, but no box for 3GP is listed there. I also checked on the website to load the conversion program which you suggested, xilisoft 3gp file converter, and it is not free. Only the trial is free.
Can you help me further? Thank you, and Regards, Ken.
AnswerHello Ken,
You probably do not have the codec installed for your Media player. Here is a website that offers a codec for your Media Player
http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to_play_3GP.htm also in case that does not work here are a list of players and converters for you you might have to pay for them
http://www.3gp.com/ just go to the player part of it in the menu bar. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.
