Cellular Phones/Panama SIM

Question
I am going to Panama for 10 days at end of June.  While down there I want to have cell phone capability back to the U.S.   My current phone would not work, so I purchased a used quad band GSM capable phone recently, LG CG225.

As I have gone on the interest to purchase a Panama SIM, all of the reputable websites such as Telestial and several others are out of stock.  My question is can I just buy the SIM card for my GSM phone while down in Panama.  There is a large store(like a Walmart) near my hotel in Tocument called El Machetazo.  Would a large department store sell SIM cards.   My primary need to be able to have my family phone me while in Panama and me be able to contact them.   Thank you for any help you can provide

Answer
Hello Shawn,

You will need to purchase the sim card down in Panama so they can assist you with the activation of your temporary sim card. Not all sim cards are universal some companies need specific sim cards to start with certain serial numbers. You can purchase them at whole in the wall cell phone stores, big outlet stores such as walmart and other cell phone centers. I hope that I have been of help to you if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your question.
